As a council tenant who has had the stock options appraisal training, and a member of the steering group, I have the facts and the figures about Blackpool council’s plans for meeting the decency standard (HT 18 February, page 13).

I do hope the local authority will give all tenants the same information and training we have received – all seven months of it.

Where did the council get the figure £9.4m figure from? More like £94m. Yes, it can meet the decent home standard, but after 2010 where is it going to get the money from just to keep it at the decent homes standard?

And by the way, the steering group did not want to sell to a registered social landlord, but to set up a new stand-alone one.
