Outgoing EEIBA president David Dennison warned of industry trends that could cause real problems for the industry charity at the recent AGM. "Last year saw significant changes in the economic structure of the industry. One of the real problems that we continue to experience is the demise of some very large companies that were donors.
"The task [of raising funds] is becoming more difficult, although some developments in generating funds from individual giving is beginning to bear fruit," said Dennison.
With this shift to individual donors in mind, the EEIBA aims to ensure that everyone understands how much of their donations go to those in need. The charity's annual deficit has reduced greatly in recent years, from £309 000 to £190 000; it is aiming for the books to balance by the end of 2007.
The total income for 2005 was up by £85 000 on 2004. Income improved by £31 000, investment income and rents dropped by £7000 and fund-raising improved by £57 000.
