The Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) has welcomed the launch of the DTI Innovation and Growth Team (IGT), which aims to build the competitiveness of the UK environmental industry in the UK and overseas markets.
EIC chairman, Adrian Wilkes, comments: "EIC has long campaigned for a wide-ranging government business plan to help the UK succeed in the rapidly growing global environment markets – we therefore welcome the setting-up of this high-level initiative to develop a strategy for the industry.

"The main business opportunities for future growth are in environmental technology and environmental services, not just the waste and water industries, and it is vital that the IGT focuses on our industry and does not shy away from the politically contentious issue of regulation and enforcement – which is our industry's driving force".
