The Energy Efficiency Best Practice Programme has produced a General Information Leaflet Central Heating System Specifications (GIL 59). The leaflet outlines good and best practice specifications for the components of domestic, wet central-heating systems.

Good practice covers products and techniques that are already established in the market and which are cost-effective and able to save energy without incurring undue risks. Best practice takes things a step further while still remaining low risk.

Purchasers can use the specifications to ensure their heating installation will conform to good or best practice. Installers should use it to quote for systems of defined quality.
