ESCA Services, the labour agency jointly owned by the ECA and Amicus, has been bought by private investor Doron Krips.
New owner Krips said: "Although a close relationship with the ECA and Amicus will be retained, the new independence of ESCA Services will allow us to further drive the business forward. We will build on the positive relationships already developed and examine ways of further enhancing the services offered."

The ECA and Amicus will retain some influence in ESCA Services, each keeping a seat on the board to provide support and assistance in the future development of the company.

Jack Luxton, ECA finance director, said: "The sale of ESCA Services reflects the maturity of labour agency markets and of the agency itself, which is now well established as a supplier of skilled JIB-graded operatives. The ECA and Amicus no longer need to be so closely involved."

The proposed sale to 20:20 Recruitment (EMC, May 2002) fell through when agreement could not be reached.
