Exposed beam: Tenants of Mercian Housing Association in the West Midlands have moved into 10 timber-frame properties in Smethwick. The £1.26m project was part-financed by a £593,000 grant from the Housing Corporation’s Kickstart fund for prefabricated housing. The work was carried out by contractor Mansell.
