CIOB deputy chief executive Michael Brown presented Council with a proposal for the role of the new Faculty of Architecture and Surveying (FAS) last month. The faculty gives members of the Architectural and Surveying Institute a place in the CIOB following September’s merger.

Details were not finalised at press time, but the FAS is intended to be the professional home for people who acquire, design, use and maintain the built environment. That’s quite a broad remit but it is in keeping with the CIOB’s strategic vision.

Run by its own manager and admin team, and based at CIOB HQ in Ascot, the FAS will promote standards and influence reform in the property and construction industries and seek to influence government policy.
