Employer Lorimer Electrical and client Primex Plastics have both been fined following the death of an electrician. The deceased was servicing light fittings in the client’s factory when he fell five metres from a ladder, which was later found to be defective.

The ladder defects and the fact that the operative had to use both hands to perform the task contributed to the accident.

Lorimer Electrical was fined £7500, while premises owner and supplier of the ladder Primex Plastics was fined £10,000.

Both firms were also ordered to pay £2000 costs.
