The 110th anniversary of Float Glass Industries (FGI) was celebrated by the company’s second Annual Golf Day. The event, which was held at the Marriott Worsley Park Hotel & Country Club on 23 June, was well attended by both customers and suppliers. As usual, non-golfers were not forgotten as there was a Laser Clay Shooting competition, plus a Power Turns contest on the paddock at the Marriott.
Golf pro David Screeton hosted the after-dinner prize-giving. Two golfers from Komfort, Chris Thomasson and John Bainbridge, each scored an impressive 40 Stableford points, but Chris was congratulated as the overall individual winner as a result of a better back nine. They were also both members of the Stableford winning team which included Anthony Perselli from Komfort and FGI’s Health and Safety Manager, Ron Hindle.
The other main competition, the Yellow Ball, was won by a team led by FGI Chairman Roy Offland, and included Geoff and Mark Cerrone of Midland Glass, with Joe Hague of Promac. The shooting competition was won by Steve Powell of Bystronic, while Andy Lomax of Vale Windows triumphed in the Power Turns.
Joint Managing Director David Offland says, ‘Despite the often atrocious weather conditions, I’m delighted that so many people told me how much they had enjoyed the day and that they hoped the FGI Corporate Day would continue to be a regular event in their social calendars. The day allowed us to celebrate our 110th anniversary with valued customers, suppliers and industry friends.’
