Five developers have been shortlisted to become lead development partner for England’s fifth millennium community.
The companies must now submit detailed proposals for the 35 ha brownfield site at East Ketley, close to the centre of Telford in Shropshire.

The site is expected to include up to 800 homes, a school and improved public transport.

English Partnerships is expected to announce the successful developer in the spring.

The shortlisted developers were chosen by English Partnerships and Telford & Wrekin council. They are: Redrow, Westbury, Bryant Homes, George Wimpey and Countryside Properties.

Peter Murray, area director for English Partnerships, said: “The millennium communities initiative integrates high- quality, affordable homes with good communal facilities and low environmental impact.”
