A two-year Research project into how the construction industry uses IT reveals that managers focus too much on the IT aspects of managing knowledge and information and too little on business processes.
Knowledge Learning in Construction was a joint project between the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, the Building Research Establishment, engineer Ove Arup and contractor Kvaerner, now Skanska Construction.
Project leader Marsh Patel said: "Too many people in construction are trying to make their business fit the technology rather than vice versa."
