For producers of trapezium shaped automotive glass Grenzebach says it has reduced waste down to virtually zero.

Grenzebach changes the cutting process within the floatline. Adjustment of longitudinal and cross cuts results in bevel cuts, dividing the glass into several interlaced trapezoids. The few remaining cullets will stay within the floatline and can be directly re-melted. Thus cullet transport to the cutting line is eliminated.

The new-style cutting pattern also allows a substantial reduction of the net glass ribbon width. This not only avoids transport costs for cullets, but also offers considerably improved utilisation of the material.
