Johnstone’s has developed Microbarr, an antibacterial surface coating that it says can eradicate 99.9% of surface bacteria in 18 hours.

Suitable for hospital wards, doctor’s surgeries, schools and retirement homes, it has been formulated to help prevent the spread of bacteria. The coating uses silver ion technology that is said to protect against over 150 strains of bacteria while providing a resilient, washable surface. It has been tested to the Japanese industry test JIS Z 2801. The company says it does not lose its effectiveness as it is repeatedly wiped down.
