A giant NHS contract makes Carillion winner of the month, while Kier gets runner's-up prize in annual table.
Carillion muscled its way to the top spot in September's monthly contractors' league with a single, £125m contract for Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust.

Kier had a typically solid month, with two contract wins valued at a total of £30.5m, which helped to move it to second place in the annual league. Another notable performance was by French giant Bouygues, in at number three with a £60m job.

It was all rather predictable at the top of the annual contractors', architects', quantity surveyors', and clients' tables with the top dogs all keeping their positions for the third month running.

However, Foster and Partners did slip from second to sixth among the architects. Only a short time ago – June – Lord Norman was topping the charts.
