The contenders are:

A 1250 ft2, three-bedroom house – one of three alongside 204 apartments at Regency Apartments, in Westminster, London, designed by Assael Architecture.

Bellway Homes

The Bute penthouse at Sophia Mansions – the cream of an apartment scheme in Penarth Marina.

Berkeley Homes

A 2647 ft2 duplex penthouse at west London’s Chelsea Bridge Wharf.

Bovis Homes

The two-and-a-half storey, double-fronted, Fennimore house design, shown here on a site in Cheltenham.

David Wilson Homes

The four-bedroom Ablington showhome at Melbourne Grange, Ibstock.

Persimmon

A two-bedroom apartment in the 84-unit K2 refurbishment scheme in central Leeds.

Redrow

A two-bedroom apartment in the French style 116-unit Holland Park, Walton-le-dale, Preston.

Taylor Woodrow/Bryant

A two-bedroom duplex apartment in City Central, Leeds, a Victorian hotel conversion.

Westbury

A flexible fit-out apartment by Wilson Connolly’s The Lifebuilding Company at the 422-unit St James in Northampton. Scheme design is by PRP Architects.
