Five companies admitted being under investigation from the OFT last week. Is the government body right to be worried about alleged cartel activity?

Nearly 150 companies, including Galliford Try, ROK and Balfour Beatty, are being investigated by the Office of Fair Trading over alleged bid rigging in the construction industry.

The OFT investigation has been running for more than two years and has seen 57 offices raided by inspectors but some have suggested the allegations are all smoke and no fire.
