EP launches derelict site programme
English Partnerships and ODPM have launched a pilot programme to determine the best way to bring long-term derelict land back into use. Under the pilot, at least one suitable site will be developed for commercial or recreational use in each of 12 local authority areas. Development will be led by a local partnership. Work will begin on the schemes over the next two months, and the findings will be fed into a National Brownfield Strategy document due to be published in early 2006.
