Part of the Galliford Try group, Midas Homes operates in the Devon Cornwall and Somerset area, building just under 400 homes a year, some 170 of which are affordable. The company has won a string of design awards for its traditional-looking schemes, and often develops mixed-tenure communities, embracing principles like pepperpotting.

- The company has formed a western region to cover Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

- In its first two years of operation has increased output from 50 units to 198 units
- Grown profit by 376% over the past year
- Has introduced a customer extranet service, where buyers can keep track of the progress of their home
Judges’ comment: “The growth of the company is fantastic. They are an intelligent business, forward thinking and seem to have a genuine enthusiasm for what they are doing. They are also developing a tremendous variety of schemes, from Regency to ultramodern.”

- Unit sales increased by 34.8% over the year
- Opened three new offices and appointed three new management boards
- The company has very successfully rebranded
