Selectaglaze has installed secondary glazing units for Smyth House, Northampton, a home for women with mental problems who have been assessed as “medium risk”.
The brief from St Andrew's Healthcare was to provide secondary glazing units with integral Venetian blinds that also allow access to the primary windows. Selectaglaze installed its Series 40 side hung casements, which use scratch-resistant polycarbonate in place of glass. Special anti-ligature controls were developed to operate the blinds. Specialist secure tools are required to operate the windows.
The windows have been tested to BS 7950 and are a Secured by Design licensed product.
