Two developments that caught Regenerate’s eye …

Assael Architecture has produced outline designs for the first phase of a mixed-use cultural quarter for central Southampton. The arts and residential scheme will include theatres, a gallery and 200 apartments. Southampton council selected Assael and developer The Raven Group as preferred team for the first phase following a competition.

The UK’s first social housing scheme to apply geothermal energy is under construction in Acton, west London. Housing association Threshold Housing and Support will heat the 128 homes using hot water from a 150 m deep borehole. The scheme, due for completion early next year, is designed by Gardner Stewart Architects and is being built by Mansell Partnership Housing.
