What does construction need from the 2019 general election?

Some claim this is the Brexit election, but then that’s what they said about the last one: What are the other campaign issues close to construction’s heart?

If a week is a long time in politics, as former prime minister Harold Wilson famously said, six weeks of general election campaigning could be an eternity, as his successor Boris Johnson may be about to find out. 

The polls were already beginning to tighten over the weekend, meaning that the Conservatives were looking less of shoo-in for another five-year term than when the election was called. And while next month’s election has been called with the professed aim of breaking the parliamentary impasse over Brexit, other issues have a habit of getting on to the agenda during a protracted campaign, especially as the public are already pretty bored with the EU withdrawal process.
