Legal reforms mean that the Sheriff's office offers a quick, cheap way of bringing those bad debtors to book

  • The Woolf reforms mean that debt claims below £15 000 now go directly to the County Court and the services of the bailiffs
  • Any debt over £600 can now be dealt with by the Sheriff’s office
  • The service is free, with only the court costs of £22·35 met by the creditor
  • If successful, costs are met by the debtor
  • If unsuccessful, a full report is available at a flat fee of £50
