Visual Verification and infrared detection device manufacturer Optex have joined forces to combat false alarm rates within remotely monitored CCTV systems.

The two companies believe the problem has created increased workloads for monitoring stations, but even more importantly, has produced increased telephone bills for customers.

Dale Jones of Optex said: “The solution lies in the training of installation engineers and specifiers. Many of these problems can be alleviated through correct installation and alignment, which can be learnt in a very short space of time.” As a consequence, Optex is offering installers the opportunity to attend free half-day training courses on system design and specification. The course will consist of installation guidelines and an introduction to the latest Optex product range. On completion of the sessions a certificate of competency will be issued. During the follow-up to the course, Optex is also offering a free site survey to put into practice the skills developed on each course. Also available are half day courses for installation engineers, to highlight the intricacies of installation which Jones says can sometimes be overlooked. This will concentrate on the more technical aspects of detection installation as well as helping with the commissioning of any new system, on site. Optex will supply a free walktester to all companies attending the installation courses.
