I write with regard to the article last issue regarding the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust (p5, QS News, 30 June).

Some points need clarifying and correcting. Mr Drugan sent me an email on 24 June giving three months’ notice, on 25 June I said we would pay him in lieu of notice and he did not need to work his three months’ notice. I was not aware of any disagreement and the board had not discussed asking the RICS for funding. Indeed Kevin (Drugan) did not put in any proposal for this to the board. Also, the CSTT covers all surveying disciplines and not just quantity surveying. I have been with the board for two years.

The CSTT was formed by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors and has no ties to the RICS. We work closely with RICS education and marketing and have redesigned our marketing material to mirror the RICS to give a consistent message.

The future looks good for CSTT and the board and staff will continue meeting training needs of 16 to 24 year olds. We have the full support of the Learning and Skills Counsel as well as Asset Skills.
