Lord Sainsbury, Parliamentary Undersecretary for Science has told professional engineering institutions to provide a single point of contact for government.

Sainsbury made his request at a meeting in which CIBSE and five other engineering bodies met with the minister to discuss how they could improve advice and expertise they offer government and industry.

Julian Amey, CIBSE chief executive said: “The Minister encouraged them [the institutions] to provide a clear point of contact for advice and consultation with government.” The institutions were also encouraged to work together more closely to support engineering by presenting a unified approach to promoting careers.
