G4S Security SERVICES (UK) managing director David Beaton has won the coveted Building The Future Award for 2005.
Presented jointly by Bobby Logue (Editor of specialist security guarding Web portal Infologue.com) and Brian Sims (the Editor of SMT), the Award is bestowed upon the individual who – in the opinion of both Editors – has created the most significant footprints towards “a vibrant, professional and mutually profitable guarding industry” during a given 12 months.
Beaton has led the merged UK guarding businesses of Securicor Security Services and Group 4 Total Security – together dubbed the nation’s first ‘Super Contractor’ – from its infancy with minimal disruption. He also ensured that the merged business met the Security Industry Authority’s licensing profiles, with over 45% of its officers having had their applications accepted by the end of September.
Beaton has also made good use of his BSIA Manned Security Section Committee membership, actively lobbying both the Regulator and the Home Office to make certain that licensing implementation was fair, and that the Approved Contractor Scheme will seek to improve standards for the industry.
