New glass shower door hinges, a portable meter for detecting self cleaning glass coatings, and professional UV bonding kits are just three products that underline Bohle’s broad coverage and special appeal in niche markets.
‘Europe’ shower hinges
Bohle AG has been a reliable trade partner for shower door fittings for many years. With Europe, Bohle is introducing to the market the first series of shower door hinges originating from Bohle's own design house, development and production facilities.
The new shower door hinges are intended for one-sided wall mounting and glass-glass construction (180 degree alignment) and accommodate glass thicknesses up to 10 mm. They are suitable for glass shower doors up to 100 cm wide (with glass thickness of 8 mm). You can choose from three different finishes: shiny chrome plated, matt chrome plated or stainless steel look. The narrow gap in the swinging axle of the door means less water can escape.
Clamps as well as corner connectors (glass-wall 90°, glass-glass 90°) are available in the same finishes as Europe and fit nicely into the total design.
Especially worth mentioning is the technology for setting the zero position, for which Bohle has a patent pending. To date, a familiar and annoying problem when setting zero positions is the fact that, after being in use for a while, the shower door settles. Many conventional shower door hinges do not offer an acceptable solution to this problem: once the zero position has been adjusted and set, it no longer can be re-adjusted.
Bohle took on this problem and can now present an elegant and easy-to-use solution. With the new Bohle Europe shower door hinges, the zero position can be adjusted individually by ±5° and can easily be re-set at any time, even after prolonged use. After setting the zero position, matching-coloured caps cover all screws neatly and securely. Inserts made of an elastic, translucent, wear-resistant synthetic material rest slip-free in a groove of the hinge.
Self cleaning detector
Bohle UK has introduced a new detector, which identifies the coating on the latest ‘self-cleaning’ glasses, such as Pilkington Activ and SGG Bioclean .
Capable of identifying the presence and location of coatings that are photo-catalytic with hydrophilic properties, the meter uses state-of-the-art technology coupled to a microprocessor control to achieve easy to use hand held results.
The new meter includes easy reading indicators and a convenient belt clip, and is small and portable, having a similar size to a pack of cigarettes.
Available now, ex-stock, the meter is the only sure way to check for these new and ‘invisible’ coatings and is a must have product for all surveyors, installers and i.g. producers working with these latest glass innovations.
UV bonding kits
The growth of glass furniture construction across Europe has been immense in the last few years. The vogue for glass in interior design continues apace, with complementary elements, like stone, beginning added into the design concepts. Bohle not only provides the solution products to meet this development, but also exclusively offers the only in-house and training seminar programmes on this technology in the UK.
The Bohle professional kits provide customers with all necessary products for UV bonding and is the ideal set of basic equipment for the professional. The set consists of products for pre-treatment, fixation and positioning, adhesive application including the adhesives, as well as products for curing and final cleaning.
Positioning and holding bonding parts securely in the desired position before applying the adhesive is a special challenge when UV bonding. The Bohle Verifix fixation aids were especially developed for this purpose and allow one person to master all work steps with ease. With the two types of Verifix clamps for glass thicknesses of 3 – 10 mm and 6 – 19 mm, two glass sheets are easily held in position. Furthermore, the set contains the Verifix 90° angle suction holder with two suction pads (diameter 120 mm). This angle suction holder serves as a rigid fixation aid in the positioning of edge bondings. The suction pads can be moved along the arms by ± 12 mm, thus allowing a fine adjustment to each other.
Also included is the Verifix pump-activated angle suction holder based on Bohle’s well-known vacuum technology. It is ideal for building cubicle constructions such as showcases, shelves and glass cabinets with floors and partitions.
With the B 665-0, B 678-0, B 690-0 and B 682-T UV adhesives, the customer has four proven adhesives at his disposal with different material characteristics for bonding glass/glass, laminated glass/glass and glass/metal. To apply the adhesives in a controlled manner, the kit includes an adaptor and six different-sized dispensing needles with diameters of 0.41 mm to 1.37 mm. The UVA Star Light with an effective work length of 570mm cures the adhesive. This model is especially lightweight due to its separate transformer.
Bohle says that the professional kit for UV bonding is the ideal kit to start bonding professionally: it has all the components necessary to produce showcases and glass furniture proficiently.
