The Glassman's Lunch, which was begun in 1970 by Cliff Rankin, was once again the first event on the festive calendar for many in the glass trade.

In addition to the traditional ‘all stag' event, a separate Women In Glass lunch was held nearby in the City of London. The lunch was also something of a reunion of Glass Age editors; Dominic Bentham was joined by his predecessors Richard Schwarz and Peter Butler.
