The Government has published its first annual statement of legislation changes.
The release of this statement follows concerns expressed by employers about the confusion being caused by the continually increasing volume of legislation being introduced, coupled with its commencement on different dates throughout the year.

Domestic employment legislation to be implemented in 2004 is as follows:

  • From 6 April, the Conduct of employment agencies and employment business regulations came into force.

Proposed for commencement on 1 October 2004 is a raft of legislation:

  • the annual revision of national minimum wage;
  • possible introduction of national minimum wage for workers aged 16 and 17;
  • Dispute Resolution Regulations;
  • ACAS code of practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures;
  • TUPE Regulations.
