Specialist consultancy Energy for Sustainable Development (ESD) is part of a consortium working on a £450 000 energy efficiency programme at the Grahame Park Estate in London.

ESD, Genesis Group and the Notting Hill Housing Group are working on an energy strategy which will cut CO2 emissions by 50%. The grant, from DEFRA’s Community Energy Programme, has been awarded to help redevelop the 3400 home estate. The cash will be used to install a community energy system for the first phases of the development. Work is scheduled to begin on site in 2005, with the first phases completed during 2007.

ESD principal consultant Duncan Price says: “The project will be innovative in its approach to delivering site-wide energy services in a self-funding way on a large and complex site.”
