Graphisoft’s MEP [Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing] Modeler has been released on both Windows and Macintosh platforms, enabling users to better co-ordinate building projects with more predictable results.

The new tool is claimed to save time, waste and cost overruns during the design and construction processes.

The software enables users to create, edit and/or import 3D MEP networks (ductwork, piping and cable trays) and integrate them with existing building information modelling (BIM) software ArchiCAD 12, using an established interface and tools.

The MEP Modeler includes the following capabilities:

  • Modelling tools to easily and quickly create and edit an MEP model within the BIM ArchiCAD software package.
  • Routeing in the 3D view as well as on the floorplan with intelligent connections.
  • A library of industry-standard parametric components that can be customised.
  • Interference detection to co-ordinate MEP systems with architectural and structural disciplines.
