GRASS CEILING: This sustainable development for Maidenhead and District Housing Association has been nominated for this year's Housing Design Awards, to be announced today. The prefabricated scheme contains 27 low-rise homes which are timber framed and clad and powered by solar roof panels. Sustainability is an important part of the awards. The architect, Bree Day Partnership, incorporated grass roofs for insulation on the eight two- and three-bedroom houses and 19 one-bedroom flats. Contractor on the scheme was Bickerton Construction.
