Designed originally by Samuel Heath 30 years ago, the new Perko concealed door closer concept has been the subject of ongoing development and improvement through to this current year and the launch of the latest third generation technology.

So successful has been the 'third generation' Perko Powermatic jamb mounted controlled door closer from Samuel Heath, that distributor Häfele has developed, and part numbered, a cutter for their own best selling DBB mortising jig for site workers.

Conforming to standards

Perko Powermatic is a CE marked and fully controlled hydraulic door closer which conforms to the demands of BS EN 1154 and is therefore ideal for use within a wide range of public, commercial, leisure and domestic building and fire door applications.

‘Being mortised into the structure of the door and with end plates in a range of finishes, Perko Powermatic is virtually invisible in situ, almost indestructible in use, designed for service in any and all building situations and is operationally unique: one of the truly great product innovations of our age', according to Elizabeth Joyce.

DBB Mortising jig

Häfele's DBB mortising jig is designed to simplify and speed up the fitment of mortise latching, locking and closing systems on site. The jig is positioned on the door edge and secured by manual clamps - the lower of the two clamps is fixed on two vertical support bars while the upper clamp can be slid in either direction, up or down, in accordance with the length of the mortise recess required.

An aluminium cutter shaft housing is positioned between the clamps and travels the length of the mortise recess manually. Travel distance is governed by the positioning of the clamps - a spring clip is supplied with the kit to set the position of, or to help reposition, the upper clamp when series of identical mortises are to be cut.

The DBB mortiser is designed to be used in conjunction with a hammer action electric hand drill with a half inch chuck (13mm) running at 2 - 3,000 rpm.
