I feel that the view expressed in your article about recruitment problems is one of the reasons why there is a shortage of housing “professionals” today (15 October, page 29).
To suggest that you can bring an individual in and make them into a housing professional in four months is demeaning to the housing professionals who have worked hard to gain their experience and in some cases qualifications.
Until we start to respect those who have decided to make a career in housing and give them their deserved status it will continue to be an uphill struggle to attract and retain individuals in the field.
