This includes employers, contract managers, site agents, safety representatives and self-employed contractors involved in maintaining buildings and plant. It also gives advice on what those responsible must do to ensure the health & safety of maintenance staff. The guidance includes material on what asbestos is, where it is found, legal requirements, managing the risk, emergency call-out procedures and working safely.

Reporting accidents in the catering industry
The HSE has produced a new information sheet to make it clear to the catering industry which accidents should be reported under the RIDDOR regulations on reporting injuries.
Confusion in the past has led to the under-reporting of accidents. The information sheet aims to explain the key requirements of the regulations and provides examples of particular problem areas.
