A consortium compromising Bilfinger + Berger, Avanti Architects and M+W Zander FM UK has been named as preferred bidder for a hospital PFI project in Gloucester. The project is valued at £36m.
The £27m redevelopment of the site at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital planned by the consortium —Gloucester Healthcare Partnership — also includes a £9m facilities management contract, which is worth £300,000 per year for the 30-year contract period to Stuttgart-based M+W Zander.
Under the planned redevelopment the consortium would construct a new accident and emergency unit, which would house an additional 75 acute beds, an outpatient centre, a diagnostic and treatment centre, two new operating theatres and a paediatric unit.
