Flytipping fine
Magistrates have fined a Bradford businessman £500 and ordered him to pay £3,500 costs for an unlawful commercial waste disposal offence. The man admitted failing to ensure a waste transfer note was completed. The Agency commented that this case should be a warning to businesses to ensure their waste is disposed of lawfully.
Radioactive waste leaks
Magnox Electric has been fined £100,000 and ordered to pay £28,000 costs at Taunton Crown Court for six offences relating to the unauthorised discharges of radioactive waste from its nuclear power stations at Bradwell, Essex and Hinkley Point A at Bridgewater in Somerset.
