We were finding that more and more housing managers wanted comprehensive information on the types of funding they could access and they didn't know where to go for it. This site is geared towards housing associations, local authorities and the private sector, which can use it to search for regional funding and European funding. It can be found at www.est.org.uk – click on the "housing manager" link. The database is easy to use, people can search under all energy-efficiency regulations and schemes such as insulation, draught systems and ventilation, so grants for specific types of work can be looked up.
However, there is also a beginner's guide for people who want to know how to make their stock more energy-efficient and need more information. For example, they may want to know how energy efficiency fits into affordable warmth strategies.
The site also lists councils' and housing associations' duties and obligations with regard to energy efficiency.
We think this is a really useful tool because it provides a one-stop shop for busy managers thinking about funding energy-efficiency measures. We know many authorities find it hard to track funding sources and this database centralises funding information for them.
