The £690m Key Worker Living programme finally got off the ground on Wednesday with a launch to housing associations.
The three housing associations running the scheme – known as “zone agents” – set out the way they will work with local housing providers to deliver the homes.

Metropolitan Homeownership – one of the three zone agents – said it had received 4000 enquiries and 2500 expressions of interest in the scheme since its launch in March (HT 26 March, page 10).

Graham Moran, director of homeownership at Metropolitan, said: “It’s about signing an agreement that sets out how, if landlords want to have applicants access the programme, they do that.

“It’s about saying who to contact and how the referral system works.”

The original Starter Home Initiative was criticised for not attracting enough applicants.
