The maintenance of lighting in any high space is a headache and the gymnasium at the Seven Kings School in Ilford was no exception.
What to use: scissor lifts, a cherry picker, scaffolding or a really big stepladder perhaps? None of these options sounded really viable.
However, thanks to the use of Luxlifts from Matsushita Electric Works UK the problem was solved.
Each high bay luminaire in the school's gym has been fitted to the electric lift mechanism of a Luxlift. This enables an operator to automatically raise or lower each fitting independently up to a height of 20 m.
The system also allows for a super quick response time when a lamp fails – say in an exam or basketball match.
Luxlifts can safely lift objects of up to 20 kg. So unfortunately there will be no Luxlift-assisted slam dunk shots in the basketball matches.
