Southern Electric Contracting (SEC) has completed a hv contract at Knapp Mill Water Treatments Works in Christchurch, Dorset. The £1 million contract for Bournemouth and West Hampshire Water will provide long-term reliability and allow for future growth at the site.
The water firm approached SEC due to environmental concerns over its diesel sets and hv plant. Knapp Mill supplies drinking water for the firm’s customers in Christchurch and West Hampshire. It has undergone a major upgrade in recent years and has an extensive hv electrical system to support its operations and a large standby generation system.
After reviewing the firm’s needs, SEC recommended an upgrade and relocation of its diesel generators and hv plant and reconfigured the hv network. It installed two 1500 kVA generators, a new hv intake and 11 kW substation to serve other firms on the Knapp Mill complex.
