Special Events Communications, an installation company that specialises in high profile public events has chosen to base their latest CCTV system on the new Pelco DX8000 digital video recording system.

Effective crowd control is a necessity at such events and SEC has designed the systems using Pelco equipment at two of this year’s highest profile events – the Epsom Derby and the Chelsea Flower Show, opened by HRH The Queen.

The security measures at these events incorporated a multi camera CCTV system using Pelco DX8000 with a wireless LAN network linked to a hand held HP2100 PDA for operation within the site compound.

The installer used 31 cameras at the Chelsea Flower Show including 14 domes linked to a DX8000.

The equipment was then used by Surrey Police at the Derby linked to a 16 dome camera system. Police commanders could access the CCTV on the hand held PDA anywhere within the control compound.

Pelco teamed up with Norbain to host a Golf Day at Sands Martins Golf Course. Wokingham, Bedfordshire, where players represented CCTV installers from all over the UK. Winner of the Stableford Competition was Garry Clayson from Nu-Cam Systems, winner of the Longest Drive was Tony Riding of Renard Systems and Nearest the Pin winner was Dave Lock, also of Renard.
