Nicholas Cullen, research and development partner at Hoare Lea Consulting Engineers, has been appointed to the Building Regulations Advisory Committee (BRAC).
Cullen was one of seven new appointments announced by Iain Wright, Junior Housing and Planning Minister. The committee is a consultative body that provides strategic and technical guidance to government on standards for the design and construction of buildings.
The other new appointments are Tracey Aarons, building control manager, Mendip District Council; Ziba Adrangi, director at PRP Architects; professor Keith Bright, access consultant and chartered building surveyor; Trevor Haynes, Birmingham City Council’s building control manager; Adrian Levett, consultant in change management; and Andrew Shipley, policy manager for the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Wright says: “I am delighted to announce the names of the seven new committee members… The importance of BRAC in helping to deliver safe, healthy, accessible and sustainable buildings cannot be disputed and the committee plays a key role, particularly given the increasing focus on sustainability and climate change issues.”
