Hoare Lea has been appointed to provide MEP design services on the conversion of Arsenal Football Club's art deco Highbury stadium.

The scheme by architects Allies and Morrison will see the conversion of the existing Grade II listed East and West stands into residential accommodation. The North and South stands will be replaced by residential blocks of similar size to retain the sense of enclosure.

Hoare Lea is aiming for a "Very Good" Eco Homes rating for the residential accommodation. Energy use will be reduced by increased building insulation and the use of a communal heating system, incorporating a renewable energy solar hot water collection system and a CHP unit.
