With ever-increasing pressure on town centre car parking facilities, it's no surprise that illegal parking has been increasing.
Of late, this has been a problem at one of Porthcawl's harbourside parking areas in south Glamorgan. Shoppers had been parking there to the detriment of legitimate users, including members of the all-important local lifeboat crew.
Working on behalf of Bridgend County Borough Council and Porthcawl Harbour Authority, electrical services specialist Tremorfa has installed a FAAC 642 barrier to prevent illegal car park use. For this installation, the barriers are linked to a dual access control system. Boat owners are admitted via card readers, while members of the lifeboat crew enjoy radio-controlled access during emergencies.
100% duty rated, the 642 access barriers operate at speeds of between four and eight seconds, and are suitable for beam lengths of four to seven metres.
