On Wednesday 20 December, Home Secretary John Reid announced the appointmant of Baroness Ruth Henig as the new chairman of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
Baroness Henig CBE has extensive experience within the police and security sector. Most recently she has served as president of the Association of Police Authorities, chairman of the Lancashire Police Authority and as a member of the National Criminal Justice Board. In 2000, Baroness Henig of Lancaster (a title granted in June 2004) was awarded the CBE for her services to policing and, in 2002, was appointed a deputy lieutenant for Lancashire. Her role at the SIA commences on 15 January for a three-year period.
“I am confident that Baroness Henig will provide strong leadership while developing and achieving the highest standards in the private security industry,” said Vernon Coaker, Home Office minister with responsibility for the SIA.
