First Security (Guards) has been awarded an interim contract – pending the formal re-tendering process – to provide manned security for the Homerton Hospital NHS Trust, located in the City of London. The contract will involve an on-site team of 19 officers working in shift patterns around the clock, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
The Trust has always looked on security as a high priority, and to this end has invested in a substantial 106-camera CCTV set-up, as well as a computerised door locking system.
Speaking about the contract, First Security (Guards) managing director Jonathan Levine explained to SMT: "Hospital security is probably the most demanding of all manned guarding tasks. The officers need to be unobtrusive and sympathetic in their dealings with the public on the one hand, yet remain vigilant of what's going on around them at all times."
