Digital camera with integral storage

It came as no surprise that Sanyo's launch of the DSR-C100 digital recording camera with an integral hard drive came in at the top spot. Claimed to be a world first, it records and stores up to 10.2 Gigabytes of images at one or three frames per second. Image resolutions are a cut above the rest at 900 TV lines.

Aimed at banks, jewellery stores and other high security applications, the built-in hard drive has dedicated areas to store pre-alarm and post-alarm images. A 'suspicion' function enables staff to trigger a separate device to ensure images are stored securely for future analysis.

Price performer

A range of mini dome cameras that include automatic pan and tilt from Stortech Electronics is setting a new standard in price performance. The PT surveillance camera kit is suitable for in-store monitoring and close commercial surveillance in areas that normally require more than one camera.

Several camera modules from Stortech's Pecan range are available. The unobtrusive mini dome measures 100mm, and comes with 20mm of connecting cable, smoked domed case and pan and tilt controller. The controller enables 360 degree panning and 90 degree tilt in four movements. An autopan facility allows the camera to move from side to side continually to a pre-set swing. Additional requirements to set up this easy-to-install kit are a 12v power supply and monitor.

Two models include black and white 1/3 inch cameras, and one is a 1/3 inch colour version. The standard unit is available in ash grey with a powder coated finish. The modules take literally minutes to install.
