Humberside is on the verge of finally getting the green light for its market renewal pathfinder bid after submitting a revised bid last month.
It is the only one of the nine pathfinders not to have received the official go-ahead from the ODPM.

In July, the ODPM gave the scheme two months to improve its plan or risk losing its pathfinder status.

Pathfinder chair Stuart Whyte said he was "optimistic" that the bid, submitted inside the ODPM deadline, would succeed.

An ODPM spokesman said a decision would be made "shortly".

A "yes" will give Humberside access to the £2.7m start-up fund already given to the other eight areas. At the same time, the government will decide whether or not the pathfinder will get the further £4m "early-wins" money that all the other pathfinder areas received at the end of June.

The spokesman refused to speculate on what would happen to the Humberside pathfinder if it failed at this hurdle.
