Two self-certification schemes have been launched for the plumbing, ventilation and air-conditioning sectors.

Firms working in the domestic and commercial heating, ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration sectors will be able to self-certify their work online through Building Engineering Services Competence Accreditation.

The scheme claims to be the only one able to certify that commercial HVACR work complies with the Building Regulations in England and Wales and is authorised by the ODPM for work on Approved Documents G, J, L1, L2 and F.

Corgi has introduced two competent persons schemes for installers; one for plumbers and one for ventilation trades in England and Wales. By self-certifying their work, installers will be saved the need to submit a building notice and contact Local Building Control.

Corgi has operated a gas self-certification scheme for 30 years. Last year, it launched a similar scheme for electrical installation work.
